Open Enrollment
Parents/Guardians wishing to enroll your student at Severance Middle School for the 2012-13 school year need to complete an open enrollment form as soon as possible. Forms can be obtained at any Weld Re-4 school or at our district office located on Main Street.
WHS Meeting for Drama Club
Any 8th grader interested in Drama Club at WHS, there will be a meeting during lunch on Thursday, January 26 in the Hawks Nest. Please see Ms. Rauh for more details.
Math Counts
A whirlwind of MathCounts events have just begun for you students who are math maniacs! We are in the midst of another successful year of MathCounts club meetings and competitions. Students participating have already taken the first round of competition, the Sprint Round. Friday January 13th, students will gather for the team round, the next round of competition and following that on Friday January 20th students will gather to watch participants compete as pairs in the oral competition of the Countdown Round. Between these dates, and following the Countdown Round, top placing students who wish to be selected for the traveling team will need to meet during lunches with their math teachers and with Mrs. Hazard after school on Monday’s and Thursday’s. This traveling team will compete against WMS MathCounts students on January 26th and in a regional competition at UNC in Greeley on February 18th. We are very excited to prepare for the 2012 MathCounts competitions and are looking forward to coaching all the math maniacs at SMS. Windsor High School Information
Your students will be preparing for their freshman year at WHS over the next few months. Below are a few important dates:
January 25th - WHS Counselors will meet with students in their English Classes.
January 25th – Parent Night at WHS Auditorium 600pm - Counselors will discuss class requirements, credits, etc.

January 30th - WHS Counselors will be at SMS to conduct individual student interviews.
We are requiring all students to register for WHS classes regardless of which school they plan to attend in the fall. We will continue to update information as we receive it from the High School. Student Drop Off/Pick Up
When dropping students off in the morning or picking up after school. Please pull all the way forward to the flag pole and continue to pull forward as others leave, have students exit the vehicle quickly, and watch for passing vehicles in the through lane when leaving the curb. If your student has items in the trunk or you have business inside the building, please pull into a parking space in order to keep traffic moving. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.RECYCLE
The SMS Library recycles ink cartridges and electronics like old cell phones, iPods/MP3 players, gaming systems, DVD’s, GPS and digital cameras. Please contact Ms. Maley if you have questions.

Severance Hawk Athletic College Scholarship
We are starting a fund for a College Scholarship. It would be available to former Severance Middle Athletes, when they graduate from High School. It will have a grade point requirement and be based on a student’s involvement in Athletics at both Severance Middle School and High School. Our hope is to raise enough money to give at least two $500 dollar Scholarships each year, to one male and one female athlete.
We will award the first awards to the Class of 2014 (the first Hawks to Graduate).
To make this happen we are challenging each sports team to raise $100.

Swimming Leads in Scholarship Fund Raising Race
The fund raising campaign for the Severance Middle School Athletic Scholarship is under way. Swimming is the early leader in fund raising; Football is in second. Cross Country is Third and Volleyball is trailing behind. We are well below the goal of $100 per team. We have 205 Students participating in a fall sport if every athlete raised $2.00 we would surpass our goal, for fall sports.
If you can contribute a donation please turn it in to the SMS office. Checks should be made out to “ Severance Middle School”. Here is the chance for a team to show that Hawk pride.
